Animal Welfare Specialist
We have an exciting opportunity at our Cape Animal Care and Adoption Center in Centerville, MA for an Animal Welfare Specialist. Animal Welfare Specialists (AWS) are at the forefront of this mission, working directly with people and their pets to effect positive change in our community. Some job responsibilities include:
- Working hands-on with several species of animals, evaluating their physical and behavioral health and implementing training and medical plans to increase their adoptability and quality of life in the shelter.
- Facilitating adoptions by matchmaking animals with prospective adopters using a conversation-based approach with a goal of identifying the best possible outcome for the person and the animal.
- Assisting in the surrender of an animal in an empathetic and compassionate manner that is free from judgment.
Applicant requirements include at least one year of experience in a customer service/client care position. Applicants should also demonstrate excellent judgment, interpersonal skills and an eagerness to support the human-animal bond. At our Cape Adoption Center, we care for over 1,500 animals each year with a 95% live release rate.
