Assistant Director of Campus & Public Relations

The Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) is made up of every undergraduate student at the University of Nevada. ASUN provides a means for students to voice concerns and address issues at the university, local, state, national, and international levels.

ASUN is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Campus & Public Relations.

  • To act as the Director of Campus and Public Relations in the Director's absence or at the Director's request.

  • To work with the Director to develop the departmental strategic plans and objectives.

  • In accordance with the Director, to focus on increasing the visibility of the Association in greater campus, local, state and national communities.

  • In accordance with the Director, to produce multimedia-content to release weekly updates to the students about ASUN including but not limited to new initiatives, allocations of funds, passed legislation and upcoming events.

  • In accordance with the Director, to work with the Center for Student Engagement's Information Technology team to update and provide content for the ASUN website.

  • To focus on ensuring that the association's multimedia-content and ASUN website are compliant with necessary accommodations set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  • To be responsible to attend all ASUN retreats and trainings as decided by the Director of Campus and Public Relations and the Director of Executive Outreach.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno

  • Maintain a 2.00 GPA and be enrolled in at least 7 credits

  • Perform all duties and instructions outlined by the ASUN Governing Documents

  • Uphold the Nevada Student Code of Conduct

  • Meet all deadlines set forth, attend all required meetings and training, work scheduled hours, properly complete and submit HR paperwork on time, assist in the promotion of the mission of ASUN and Nevada, behave in a manner that is ethical, maintain a high level of integrity

  • Other duties as called upon by my position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in fields such as marketing, journalism, communication studies, and/or related fields through course of study, previous work experience, or extracurricular activities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to positively represent the Executive Branch internally and externally

  • Motivation to further the goals and initiatives under the Impact Nevada platform through:

  • Collaborating with the Center for Student Engagement and other campus departments to increase students' awareness of access to resources to further their success

  • Coordinating campus-wide surveys to undergraduate students with the Director of Executive Outreach

  • Meeting consistently with student groups on campus to formulate initiatives and avenues of support pertinent to the limitation and duties of the Executive Branch

  • Extending participation in and awareness of the Pack Friendly Business Program with the ASUN Vice President

  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with politically, ideologically, and culturally diverse people and communities

  • Excellent organization and project management skills in a team-based environment with multiple projects

  • Flexibility and adaptability within role; ability to time manage and prioritize tasks

Compensation Grade

Student Employee Level 1 $3,000 distributed evenly over a 12-month period in a single-term
