Job Summary
We are seeking an Expert-level Technical Writer (Non-IT) to create high-quality documentation for complex, domain-specific processes, products, and operations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in non-IT technical fields (such as manufacturing, engineering, automotive, pharma, healthcare, energy, industrial equipment, etc.) and the ability to convert technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive technical documents such as SOPs, manuals, product specifications, safety guidelines, operational guides, training materials, and regulatory documents.
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and operations teams to gather accurate technical information.
- Translate highly complex technical concepts into understandable documentation for diverse audiences.
- Standardize documentation formats, templates, style guides, and terminology across teams.
- Ensure all documentation meets industry standards, regulatory requirements, and compliance guidelines.
- Review, edit, and refine existing documents for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
- Maintain version control and documentation repositories.
- Conduct interviews, research, and study product samples/equipment to produce precise content.
- Create illustrations, diagrams, and visual aids to support technical content.
- Work closely with quality, safety, and product teams to ensure alignment with operational procedures.
- Support training and onboarding with user guides, manuals, and process documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, Mechanical/Industrial disciplines, or related field.
- 7-12+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in a non-IT domain (manufacturing, engineering, pharma, automotive, oil & gas, industrial machinery, etc.).
- Strong understanding of technical processes, equipment operations, and industrial workflows.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Skilled in tools such as MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, InDesign, Captivate, SnagIt, or similar.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, and safety/compliance regulations.
- Deep knowledge of industry standards (ISO, GMP, OSHA, FDA, etc.-customize based on field).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple documents simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and tight deadlines.
- Master's degree or certification in Technical Communication.
- Experience working with regulated industries (pharma, aviation, healthcare, energy).
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), DITA-based tools, or documentation frameworks.
- Experience creating training modules, e-learning content, or visual technical content.
- Highly analytical and detail-oriented.
- Strong interviewing and research skills.
- Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to simplify complex technical information for non-expert users.
