Job Summary: As an SEO Specialist at Toptal, you will be responsible for driving high-intent, qualified demand to Toptal.com and improving conversion efficiency across the organic channel. You will operate at the intersection of search, content, product, and data, partnering with engineers, designers, copywriters, analysts, and growth leaders to scale organic acquisition in an evolving search landscape. Your scope will span traditional search engines, AI-powered discovery surfaces, and emerging LLM-driven experiences, with a focus on both top-of-funnel demand capture and high-intent, revenue-driving queries associated with companies looking to hire elite talent. You will lead on-page optimization, content strategy, technical SEO, and authority growth, while also contributing to product and platform enhancements that unlock scalable organic growth. Own and execute organic growth initiatives in close partnership with a fast-moving, cross-functional team. Conduct deep, ongoing SERP and competitive analysis, including classic search results and AI-augmented answer experiences. Optimize on-page content, internal linking, and information architecture for both head terms and long-tail demand. Lead keyword research, intent modeling, and query clustering, with an emphasis on commercial and product-led intent. Define and oversee content generation and optimization strategies that align with searcher intent and drive conversions. Identify and execute authority-building initiatives, including backlink analysis, link quality monitoring, and scalable acquisition strategies. Partner with content, PR, and distribution teams to define target terms, anchor strategies, and landing pages that strengthen key revenue-driving URLs. Own technical SEO hygiene, including crawlability, indexing, rendering, Core Web Vitals, site speed, and structured data. Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on SEO-driven product improvements, templates, and platform capabilities. Monitor and report on core SEO KPIs, including rankings, traffic quality, CTR, conversion rate, and cost efficiency. Maintain strong, proactive communication with stakeholders via Slack, Zoom, and written documentation. In the first week, expect to: Complete onboarding and integrate into Toptal’s culture and workflows. Review current and historical SEO strategies, experiments, and performance. Understand the roadmap, key growth levers, and near-term opportunities. Build relationships with direct teammates and adjacent partners. Qualifications and Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Analytics, Business, or related field. Strong command of modern SEO best practices, including risk management and algorithm-safe execution. 3+ years of hands-on experience in SEO, growth, or search-driven product environments. Proven experience designing, executing, and analyzing SEO experiments. Deep understanding of search intent, content relevance, ranking systems, and authority signals. Experience implementing both content-focused and technical SEO independently and in partnership with engineers. Solid understanding of web technologies, rendering models, and performance considerations that impact SEO. Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, content creators, product managers, and marketers. Strong analytical skills and experience with tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, and or SEMrush, Screaming Frog, PageSpeed Insights, and advanced Excel or Sheets.
