A nonprofit organization in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a Benefits Specialist. This position offers the opportunity to make an impact while working in a mission-driven environment. Must have strong recent experience with benefits, specifically with Leave of Absence requests.
Hybrid schedule:
2-3 days onsite Hours:
9am-5pm Pay rate:
$35/hr Responsibilities: Manage all leave of absence requests (FMLA, STD, LTD, NYPFL, Workers’ Compensation) Serve as the subject matter expert for accommodation requests Interpret and administer all applicable state and federal leave policies Work with the HR team and third party leave administrators to ensure that all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted in a timely manner Work with employees and managers to evaluate ADA requests Manage all administrative aspects of leave and workers’ compensation claims Work closely with the Payroll Department to ensure that pay for staff is accurate and correct Conduct Benefits Orientation for new hires Assist with open enrollment Assist in developing benefits training for managers and staff Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree with at least 3-5 years of related experience Proven experience and knowledge of relevant employment law including ADA, FMLA, Disability policies and Worker’s Compensation is required Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills Exceptional organizational, analytical and detail-oriented skills The ability to work in a fast-paced environment The ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality and discretion Seniority level:
