Job Description WRMD Telemundo Tampa seeks a News Producer who is responsible for the creation of live newscasts and other special news programs as needed. As a T49 Producer, you will be creating content for the most innovative news organization in Tampa, FL.
Responsibilities
Responsible for overall production, flow, accuracy, content and every element of each newscast.
Key newsroom leader, promptly communicating vision and the show’s needs to all participants or providers.
Understand newscast’s audience, mission and station priorities; integrate all station platforms in the news presentation.
Work closely with the Executive Producer on special projects and coverage.
Stay well‑informed on daily news events, knowing what will represent news for the Tampa Bay area.
Craft content using excellent writing skills and your own unique vision.
Plan, supervise and execute live shots and live remotes during live newscasts.
Select, assign, write and organize news stories, including writing headlines, teases and reporter/anchor lead‑ins.
Respond timely to breaking news with urgency and accuracy.
Coordinate and plan future coverages.
Collaborate with Video Journalists on visual and written storytelling and presentation.
Write news scripts, promotional teasers, headlines and daily news briefs.
Contribute story ideas and participate in daily coverage decisions and editorial meetings.
Lead the team towards producing innovative, flawless, creative and interesting newscasts; communicate clear directions and changes to all members.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Understand and follow all Telemundo News standards and ethics.
Qualifications
Experienced journalist with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related communication field, or proven equivalent experience.
Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
Minimum of 2 years as a News Producer.
Experience in line‑production with a proven track record of booking live events, shots and newscasts.
Excellent news judgment, creative ideas and writing skills.
Leadership qualities, detail‑oriented, organized, able to handle intense deadline pressure.
Eligibility Requirements
