Position Overview
As an
Advanced CNC Machinist / Programmer , you will take ownership of the complete machining process - from setup and programming to final inspection. You will be responsible for creating, optimizing, and running CNC programs to produce complex precision components while ensuring maximum efficiency, quality, and machine uptime. This role is ideal for a skilled machinist who thrives on precision, problem-solving, and advancing modern manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Program, set up, and operate
CNC machines (turning, milling, and multi-axis mill-turn).
Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using
G-code, software, or conversational controls .
Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for efficient machining of various materials.
Perform
full machine setups
including workholding, offsets, and tool presetting.
Conduct
first-article inspections
and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet tight tolerances.
Analyze and improve machining processes for increased throughput and accuracy.
Maintain detailed records of setups, tooling, and process notes for repeatability.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams on design-for-manufacturability improvements.
Ensure all operations meet safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Critical Competencies for Success
Strong ability to
program and troubleshoot
CNC machines.
Deep understanding of
tool paths, G/M code, feeds and speeds , and multi-axis machining.
Proven ability to
set up and run complex parts
with minimal supervision.
Keen attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
Proactive problem solver who identifies opportunities for process optimization.
Excellent communication skills and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Minimum
3–5 years of experience
in CNC machining, with programming and setup responsibilities.
Proficient in
CAM software .
Skilled in reading and interpreting
blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings .
Familiar with machining a range of materials including
alloy steels, stainless, and aluminum .
Experience with
continuous improvement or lean manufacturing
practices is a plus.
