Volunteer Communications Specialist – Donor Advised Fund Strategy

Job Description Ashoka is seeking a highly skilled Presentation & Communications Specialist to support the development of compelling, high-quality materials for Donor Advised Fund (DAF) holders and partners. This role is ideal for someone who can transform complex ideas into simple, powerful narratives—visually and strategically—and who is energized by philanthropy, social innovation, and systems-level change.
Responsibilities
Design high-quality presentations for DAF holders, philanthropic advisors, foundations, and wealth‑management partners.
Translate strategy into compelling storytelling—distilling Ashoka’s DAF approach, impact frameworks, funding pathways, and case studies.
Create polished decks that reflect Ashoka’s brand, clarity, visual cohesion, and narrative strength.
Collaborate with senior leadership (especially on the E2 / Strategic Entrepreneurship team) to refine messaging for donor cultivation and stewardship.
Develop communication assets including one‑pagers, donor memos, visual frameworks, and briefing documents.
Conduct light research on DAF trends, philanthropic priorities, and donor segmentation to strengthen messaging.
Maintain an asset library of templates, visuals, data points, and storytelling elements.
Ensure confidentiality and discretion when handling donor information.
What This Role Makes Possible This role directly contributes to mobilizing new philanthropic resources for Ashoka and equips donor communities to engage with systems‑changing solutions. You will help shape how Ashoka presents its DAF strategy to the world and play a meaningful part in advancing the next era of social entrepreneurship.
Volunteer Logistics
Estimated hours required per week: 5 – 10 hours.
The estimated duration of the project: 1 – 3 months.
This position is Virtual (Remote).
Language Requirements English.
Desired Skills And Experience
Strong experience designing professional presentations (Canva, Google Slides, Keynote preferred).
Exceptional ability to simplify complex ideas into clear, visually engaging narratives. Excellent writing and editing skills; able to adopt Ashoka’s tone of voice.
Understanding of (or strong willingness to learn about) Donor Advised Funds, philanthropic trends, and high‑net‑worth donor engagement.
Ability to work independently, respond quickly, and iterate based on feedback.
Experience in social impact, philanthropy, consulting, communications, or design is highly desirable.
High professionalism, judgment, and attention to detail.
Ideal Candidate Profile
A strategic thinker with a designer’s eye.
Thrives in fast‑moving, mission‑driven environments.
Adept at working with senior executives and handling sensitive information.
Experience in the financial services industry helpful.

Commitment & Structure
