Job Description Job Summary The Staff Editor will work closely with the Senior Editor and Senior News Editor to coordinate cross‑platform content, including routine daily news and breaking news situations. The role requires a dynamic editor passionate about PEOPLE, skilled in identifying unique and compelling stories, and willing to work occasional nights and weekends.

Essential Job Functions

Write and edit stories on deadline (60%).

Pitch and assign content (20%).

Analyze traffic data and implement strategies (10%).

Coordinate staffing needs with the team, or other duties as assigned (10%).

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements Education:

BA or BS in a related field or equivalent experience or training and/or experience.

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of writing and/or editing for a high‑volume digital news organization.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Strong writing and editing skills, impeccable journalistic standards and attention to detail.

Ability to respond quickly to breaking news.

Strong basic reporting abilities.

Travel:

0‑10%, or as assigned.

Pay Range Salary: California: $80,000.00 – $80,000.00 (may vary based on location, experience, and performance). The range represents one component of the total compensation package which may include bonuses, incentives, and various benefits.
