Summer COSMOS Coordinator for Residential Education (CRE)
Location: UC Santa Cruz Main Campus (residing overnight in campus dorm during work shift). Job ID: 83598. Schedule: Part‑time (20% 8 hrs/wk) mid‑April to June, then full‑time (40 hrs/wk) from 6/27 to 8/5, 2026.
Job Summary Live‑in summer‑only position overseeing the residential program and staff of COSMOS, a 4‑week academic, residential summer program for high‑school students.
Core Responsibilities
Residential Advising and Development – ongoing transformational residential advising and development to student participants and undergraduate residential advisors.
Support Services – independently provide full range of support services for student program(s) from planning to implementation.
Training – plan, implement and participate in comprehensive training and education program for student staff team, including ongoing staff development and in‑service training.
Supervision – train and supervise student residential staff; monitor employment standards.
Student Conduct – adjudicate student conduct cases of moderate complexity, interview witnesses, write up findings, consult with higher‑level staff.
Residential Duties – reside within dorm (including overnight) on all scheduled working days, respond to critical needs at any time.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience & training.
Knowledge of advising, counseling and/or coaching techniques with high‑school aged students.
Experience with program development, implementation and operations.
Experience managing a team of more than 5 individuals.
Experience working with a residential program.
Project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Experience identifying measures of system performance and actions to improve performance.
Experience developing/presenting a training program.
Knowledge of common University‑specific computer applications and university procedures involving risk assessment.
Appointment Information Budgeted Salary: $5,934.00 month (proportional). Benefits: Not eligible. Position is a limited appointment. Travel up to 25% of time. Union representation: Student Services and Advising Professionals (SSAP) – SV Union.
