Role As Staff Product Designer, you will build rich, intuitive, best‑in‑class experiences for students, instructors, and coaches. Responsibilities include designing delightful product experiences, maturing our design system, improving the platforms coaches and instructors use daily, and developing new products for Stepful partners.
What You’ll Do
Use product thinking, visual design, and system stewardship to create best‑in‑class experiences for students, instructors, and coaches.
Define opportunities and choose methodologies autonomously, utilizing project prioritization, planning, research, jobs‑to‑be‑done, user flow mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and high‑quality workflows across native and web apps.
Leverage both quantitative and qualitative data to guide design decisions and adopt a hypothesis‑driven experimental mindset.
Collaborate closely with product, engineering, growth, and operations to address challenges, manage trade‑offs, and excite the team.
Own and mature our design system to evolve patterns, components, styles, and patterns across all products.
This Job Is For You If You Have
8+ years of work experience focusing on product design across a variety of platforms from mobile to web.
Deep understanding of the technology powering digital products and how to collaborate with engineering to leverage emerging capabilities.
Experience with an end‑to‑end versus waterfall approach to product, applying a wide variety of product design skills (design thinking, design strategy, user problem definition, information architecture, service design).
Experience driving user research to understand underlying pain points and needs and to inform product strategy.
Experience building relationships with teammates, influencing decisions at multiple levels across teams.
Bonus Points If
You have previous startup experience, especially at B2B2C or B2C EdTech/Healthcare companies.
You have experience with A/B testing or other experiment/data‑driven product development organizations.

Compensation New Hire Base Salary Bands:
Senior I – $143,000–$168,000
Senior II – $167,000–$196,000
Staff I – $190,000–$225,000
There is no bonus structure; all cash compensation is base salary. Total compensation includes benefits and an equity (ISOs) package. Pay range will be determined based on job‑related factors and may be modified.
