Position Summary Support Aetna’s ability to achieve its financial and strategic goals through effective underwriting. Underwriting support primarily includes identifying, evaluating, and managing risk in order to maximize revenue, membership and earnings.

Perform accurate underwriting analysis, risk assessment for new and/or renewal of large‑group contracts and accountings. Assigned cases/book of business may be limited to a single (or minimal number of) products, financial arrangements and/or rating methodologies.

This position requires a basic understanding and application of underwriting tools and processes as well as financial concepts delivered as part of new hire training.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Prepare and deliver routine new business quotes and/or existing business renewals and/or accountings.

Review work with mentor/manager and respond to requests for pricing and/or accounting balance alternatives based on financial analysis, underwriting principals and business strategy.

Utilize basic functionality of underwriting tools, systems, and reference materials to produce accurate quotes, renewals and/or accountings.

Escalate underwriting exceptions/financial variances for their assigned cases to the appropriate level.

Basic understanding of the rate and/or administrative fee development process, pricing components, and application of underwriting and/or accounting policies.

With supervision, assists sale personnel in explaining rate/fee, accounting balance development and communicating underwriting policy.

Produce timely and accurate customer specific documents, deliverables and accounting related information.

May assist department with projects or participate in work groups.

Working knowledge of problem solving and decision making skills.

Required Qualifications

1–2 years of relevant work experience in a similar role.

Demonstrated analytical and independent thinking skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Must be able to communicate effectively.

Ability to use standard corporate software packages and corporate applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of insurance, rating and underwriting concepts a plus.

Education Requirements

High School/GED or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Pay Range $18.50 – $38.82 per hour. This pay range represents the base hourly rate for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
