We are looking for a creative, data-savvy Social Media & Content Coordinator to support and elevate a mission-driven organization’s digital presence. This role is ideal for someone who lives and breathes social, loves storytelling, and is excited to turn real-time moments into engaging content.
This is a freelance opportunity based in Culver City, CA, with in-person work required three days per week.
Base pay range $25.00/yr - $35.00/yr
What You’ll Do:
Execute and maintain day-to-day social media activity across key platforms (Instagram, Threads, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube).
Handle daily posting, monitoring, and engagement, responding to followers both proactively and reactively.
Partner with the Director of Social Media to build and execute a bi-weekly content calendar, including capturing and editing content.
Collaborate with teams across the organization to surface stories, topics, and trends that translate into compelling social content.
Help grow followers, reach, and engagement through thoughtful storytelling, creative campaigns, and dynamic initiatives.
Plan and support live content capture at events, including developing creative shot lists tailored for social media.
Maintain a well-organized content library and continuously source or produce new visual assets for marketing use.
Stay ahead of platform updates, trends, and the real-time news cycle to keep content timely and relevant.
Monitor, track, and report on social media performance, using insights to refine and optimize content.
Support content budget planning and tracking alongside the Director of Social Media.
Coordinate with external partners such as graphic designers, digital ad teams, and other vendors.
Contribute to the development of visual assets for broader marketing efforts.
Take on additional projects and responsibilities as needed.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations.
2–3 years of hands‑on experience creating and executing social media marketing strategies.
Proven experience managing social campaigns, day‑to‑day publishing, editorial planning, content creation, and distribution.
Excellent creative copywriting and editing skills with a strong, adaptable voice.
Deep familiarity with major social platforms and a strong understanding of which channels best support organizational goals.
Experience in photography and videography, with a strong design sensibility and commitment to visual consistency.
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, and video editing tools; confident creating social‑first graphics and short‑form video (e.g., Reels).
Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment, balancing multiple projects and deadlines with strong time‑management skills.
Self‑starter mindset with the confidence to test new ideas and iterate based on results.
Strong communication, decision‑making, and problem‑solving abilities.
High level of organization, attention to detail, and follow‑through; collaborative approach to working with teams.
Bonus Points:
Experience with social media analytics and management tools such as Hootsuite, Meltwater, or Dash Hudson.
