This is an independent contractor position. Project Success is a nonprofit youth development organization that helps students connect to their purpose. We work with more than 17,000 6th-12th grade students and their families annually and have more than 225,000 alumni around the world. Learn more at projectsuccess.org. Project Success produces musicals at three Minneapolis Public middle schools, and each show has between 50 – 90 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and have a variety of theatrical experiences. For many, the Project Success musical at their school is their first opportunity to be in a show! We utilize the power of theater to inspire, build community, act as a springboard for discussion, and encourage students to tell their own stories. Core Responsibilities
Choreography: Assist with running auditions and casting the show Create original dances/blocking for the show’s musical numbers Teach all choreographed numbers to the cast Foster students’ talents and confidence Create an inclusive and accessible environment at rehearsal Communication: Work in close collaboration with the Director, Music Director, Assistant Director, Technical Director, and Senior Program Manager – Musicals Build and nurture trusting relationships with young people Interact with school partners and families This position reports to the Senior Program Manager – Musicals Schedule
Rehearsals after school, Monday through Thursday, from 3:20 pm – 5:45 pm (3 days a week for a total of 10 hours) Two performance dates including two school matinees and two evening performances Additional time commitment of 1-3 hours per week to plan actor blocking, create actor choreography and attend a production meeting the week before auditions. More details regarding scheduling are to be discussed during the interview process. Sanford Dates Production Meeting: Friday, September 19, 3:45pm at the Project Success office Auditions: Monday, September 22, Wednesday, September 24, and Thursday, September 25 Rehearsals: Monday, September 29 – Thursday, September 4 + one Friday rehearsal on December 5 Performances: Friday, December 12 & Saturday, December 13 Northeast Dates Production Meeting: Friday, November 21, 3:45pm at the Project Success office Auditions: Tuesday, December 16 & Wednesday, December 17 Rehearsals: Monday, January 5 – Thursday, March 5 + one Friday rehearsal on March 6 Production Meeting: Friday, March 20, 3:45pm at the Project Success office Auditions: Tuesday, March 24 & Wednesday, March 25 Rehearsals: Monday, April 6 – Thursday, May 28 + one Friday rehearsal on May 29 Tech Rehearsals: Monday, June 1 – Thursday, June 4 $2,500 stipend Must be able to pass a background check To Apply
