This is a mid-level role on the Media team at Rainstorm Direct, a rapidly growing, fast-paced media agency. Working closely across agency teams, the Senior Media Buyer is responsible for planning, negotiating, and purchasing media across various video channels and markets. This role ensures the best media is purchased so campaigns are executed efficiently, meet client objectives and deliver optimal ROI. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of video (linear and CTV) converged media strategies, strong negotiation skills and experience managing large budgets.

While this is a remote role, periodically accommodating meetings in different time zones is expected.

What does a Senior Media Buyer do at Rainstorm Direct?

Develop and execute video buying strategies aligned with client goals and KPIs

Negotiate rates, added value, and placement with media vendors to maximize campaign performance

Collaborate with Planning to align buys with overall media strategy

Participate in client calls as the media advocate discussing marketplace conditions, opportunities, rates and any media related topics

Manage budgets and ensure accurate billing and reconciliation

Monitor campaign delivery and provide recommended optimizations and testing based on performance goals

Maintain strong vendor relationships and stay informed on market trends and pricing

Mentor junior team members and assist in training on best practices

Attend team meetings and participate in brainstorming sessions around process development/improvement, identify areas for efficiency, tool enhancements, etc.

Independently troubleshoot and problem solve on day-to-day tasks

What do we look for in a Senior Media Buyer at our Agency?

5+ years of media buying experience (linear and CTV) in an agency setting. Must have experience in national linear and performance/response-driven media. Cross-channel experience preferred, but not necessary

Proven negotiation skills and ability to manage large-scale buys

Strong analytical and advanced Excel skills. Comfortable dealing with large amounts of data. Familiarity with cross-platform measurement and integration with digital campaigns

Demonstrates strategic thinking; a critical thinker and good problem-solver

Excellent presentation, communication, organizational and influencing skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

Knowledge of emerging trends in linear and CTV; stays on top of current trends and calculated risk-taker

Ability to tell a story using data

Proactive, self-directed and well organized

Proven ability to work as part of a team and mentor junior team members all with a focus on achieving goals
