Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our San Jose team. This position requires strong technical tax expertise, supervisory skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service. The Tax Manager will oversee complex engagements, mentor staff, and ensure all tax returns are completed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical tax reviews and approvals of complex tax returns and governmental examinations.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and complete preparation and delivery of client tax returns.
- Participate in client meetings and tax planning efforts , supporting the Audit & Advisory (A&A) Department with larger clients.
- Act as a technical resource for tax preparers and A&A staff on complex tax matters.
- Manage governmental tax examinations and represent clients before taxing authorities when needed.
- Research and evaluate tax preparation and research software for potential firm adoption.
- Ensure efficient workflow of tax returns within the preparation system.
- Participate in business development efforts through networking, referrals, and community involvement.
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, including Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-Seniors, and Staff Accountants.
- Oversee training, coaching, and performance evaluations within the tax department.
Qualifications
- 57 years experience in public accounting with demonstrated progression in complexity, tax scope, and research.
- Strong experience with entity tax returns (S Corporations and LLCs).
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience managing tax preparers.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting required; Masters degree in Taxation preferred.
- Active CPA license required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
