Job Description
Serves as a leader, motivator and expert relative to successful operation and execution of all areas of Production and Sales in Non‑Perishable departments (grocery, dairy, frozen foods, healthy living, bulk foods, and gift baskets) and Perishable departments (produce, meat market, seafood market and floral) and Food Service departments (kitchen, cafe, prepared foods, cooking school, bakery, deli, and cheese departments). This position ensures customer delight, partner satisfaction, and company objectives, reporting to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Make employment‑related and business decisions, or recommend such decisions, including product and department related strategies, hiring, promotion, disciplinary action, etc.
- Lead multiple departments, including merchandising, product mix, cost management, and supervise partners through department managers.
- Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation.
- Supervise daily management of Non‑Perishable/Food Service departments via department managers.
- Maintain vendor relations and communicate expectations to partners.
- Conduct employment interviews, performance appraisals, and partner feedback.
- Train and develop partners.
- Provide superlative customer service.
Requirements
- Strong supervisory and management skills with comprehensive knowledge of production and sales in both non‑perishable and perishable departments.
- Long‑term strategic and financial planning capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree, or one to two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and training.
Experience
- Proficiency with automated reporting systems including inventory, food cost, scheduling, time & attendance, and labor.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to champion new ideas and initiatives.
