divh2Medical Assistant/h2pAssists with the provision of quality patient care and performs required administrative tasks./ppEssential Functions:/pulliMay prepare correspondence, documents, reports and other materials of varying complexity and confidentiality, sometimes requiring independent judgment./liliSchedules patient appointments and provides follow-up and reminder calls./liliAssists with various clinical tasks that include rooming of patients, vital signs, heights and weights, and any applicable screening questions./liliProvides basic, supportive patient care and administers approved medications under the delegation of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse./liliCollects and reports data to a licensed professional, including any abnormalities, and documents all findings in the medical record./liliMay act as a preceptor for orientation and training of new staff, float staff and students as directed./li/ulpEducation Requirement:/ppGraduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or five years of equivalent experience, required./ppLicensure Requirement:/ppValid Ohio drivers license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Childrens Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines./ppCertifications:/ppCPR certified (American Heart Association Heart saver with pediatric content) course, or Health Care Provider course or Red Cross equivalent, required./ppSkills:/pulliStrong written and verbal communications, interpersonal and problem-solving skills and professional behavior in the presence of patients and staff./liliSuccessful completion of Unlicensed Assistive Personnel orientation, and skills verification as required and provided by Nationwide Childrens Hospital./liliComputer familiarity and literacy with general data entry./liliAbility to learn and be proficient with specific computer programs, systems and Electronic Medical Record documentation./li/ulpExperience:/pp In lieu of accredited medical assistant program, five years of experience with blood pressures, temperatures, respirations, pulse, height, and weight, required.
