This position will be in Huntsville, AL./ph3Position Overview:/h3pAs a Mechanical Engineer you will support the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Hardware Engineering teams design efforts working within an Agile environment. Your core tasks will entail developing and maintaining design drawings for multiple Ground Systems (GS) IPT hardware systems and their interfaces with facilities./ph3Essential Functions:/h3ulliUnder the direction of your program leadership, responsibilities include performing analyses IAW industry and military standards./liliDevelop design drawings, maintaining drawings, evaluating hardware design efforts, scheduling, and planning required tasks./liliLeading small teams and writing reports to support milestone reviews./liliAccountability and active participation in team meetings and internal/external demos, and documenting progress on team dashboards is expected./liliGenerate engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, and test reports./liliMentoring and cross-training junior engineers in analysis work, reviews, and approving their analysis results to meet customer requirements./li/ulh3Basic Qualifications:/h3ulliBachelors Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Masters Degree and 6 years of related experience, or 4 years of related experience with a PhD./liliAbility and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time./liliApplicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start./liliMust be able to support an in-office / closed-area work environment full-time./liliAbility to communicate data in a clear and concise manner./liliExperience using a 3D CAD Package such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX/liliRecent experience in thermal, fatigue, static and/or dynamic analysis of mechanical structures, systems, and subsystems./liliExperience reviewing 2D mechanical drawings per ASME standards/liliPrior experience with engineering PLM systems such as Teamcenter and MRP system such as SAP./liliPrior experience with the design, test, and/or integration and deployment of mechanical and structural components, systems, or subsystems/liliUnderstanding and application of industry engineering technical standards; demonstrated structural design experience and impact assessment./liliRecent experience generating engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, technical reports, test procedures, program procedures, and CDRLS./liliExperience in evaluating vendor documents to ensure specifications and datasheet meets requirements./liliFamiliarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1366, MIL-STD-1472, ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000/li/ulh3Preferred Qualifications:/h3ulliBS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering/liliExcellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts/liliExperience leading a small team, including task and schedule planning, to meet major project milestone objectives./liliExperience in one or more of the following system engineering knowledge areas: technical planning, requirements derivation, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, cost and risk analysis, interface definition, system design, system integration, verification and validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total systems./liliExperience using analytical software tools, to analyze and reduce data to identify key characteristics and trends./liliExperience with mission critical and safety critical systems, components, etc./liliFamiliarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA-QS-003-PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process)/liliFamiliarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardware/liliHands-on mentality and a passion for fast-paced environments./liliExperience with Finite Element Analysis and Modeling theory and application using industry standard structural analysis software (ANSYS, GTStrudl, ABAQUS, STAAD, Femap, NX Simcenter, NASTRAN, Creo Simulation or SolidWorks Simulation)/liliDOORS and/or CAMEO exposure/li/ulpPrimary Level Salary Range: $123,400.00 - $185,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
