Die Maker/h2pResponsible for: Develops, builds, modifies, debugs, and repairs a variety of complicated dies, jigs, tools, fixtures, gauges, special machinery and mechanisms by performing the following duties./ppA Day In The Life Roles
Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned./pulliCapable of interpreting blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts./liliComputes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations./liliMeasures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining./liliSets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, and surface grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications./liliLifts machined parts and positions and secures parts on surface plate or work table./liliSurface grinds and/or profile grinds all surfaces to fit assemble together into assemblies and mechanisms./liliVerifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances./liliHeat treats tools or parts./liliPerforms difficult set-ups involving checking and aligning of parts of irregular shapes, including dies./liliExamines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part./liliDevelops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product./liliPlans, instructs, and assists other tool room personnel./liliPerforms other related duties as necessary./li/ulpWhat will help you thrive in this role?
