divh2Consumer Frauds Representative/h2pDuties Description/ppReview, analyze, and process complaints in the case management system (NYMatters) and determine disposition./ppCreate and send written communication to complainants where appropriate with guidance and consultation of attorneys and supervisors./ppIdentify patterns of fraud and violations of the law and escalate to a supervisor or the appropriate bureau or office./ppCompile and review reports for the bureau and ensure that assigned tasks are being completed promptly./ppRun queries to ensure that caseload is accurate./ppCommunicate verbally via telephone and/or in person with members of the public providing guidance and/or resources where appropriate./ppDocument details of calls for tracking, training, and improvement purposes./ppTransfer calls to the appropriate individual, bureau, or regional office./ppRefer calls to the appropriate external agency or organization./ppEnsure calls are answered and messages are responded to promptly./ppManage the bureaus consumer frauds shared mailbox./ppResponsible for the daily organization and distribution of complaints and inquiries received./ppResponsible for the timely distribution and escalation of email./ppEnsure that the mailbox is current and there is no buildup or backlog./ppEnsure that the complaints, inquiries, or documents received through both portals are properly assessed before distribution./ppAssist with creating and updating bureau-specific guides./ppPerform the necessary research when processing intakes, updating and/or creating guides, or when completing projects requested by upper management./ppAssist with affirmative litigation./ppTrack deadlines./ppProvide support with data entry and compilation./ppCoordinate with other bureaus, regional offices, or agencies where appropriate./ppCollaborating on affirmative cases/statewide initiatives with other Bureaus as requested./ppParticipating in outreach activities./ppSupervise interns:/ppAssist with hiring interns./ppManage attendance and schedule of interns to ensure coverage and to ensure that deadlines are being met./ppTrain and assess interns./ppDistribute assignments, meet with interns to provide guidance, and help resolve any work-related issues./ppCompile and review workload reports with interns./ppPerform other duties as assigned./ppMinimum Qualifications/ppNY HELPS:/ppThis title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)./ppFor the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply./ppAt a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified./ppNON-COMPETITIVE QUALIFICATIONS:/pp Senior Consumer Frauds Representative (PEF SG 17, current starting salary $63,361, job rate $80,655)/ppA paralegal degree or paralegal certificate program or 60 semester credit hours and five years of experience primarily dealing with the general public in a sales or consumer/customer service or problem resolution capacity./pp Consumer Frauds Representative Trainee 2 (PEF SG NS, current starting salary $53,764, job rate $68,630)/ppA paralegal degree or paralegal certificate program or 60 semester credit hours and three years of experience primarily dealing with the general public in a sales or consumer/customer service or problem resolution capacity./pp Consumer Frauds Representative Trainee 1 (PEF SG NS, current starting salary $50,844, job rate $65,061)/ppA paralegal degree or paralegal certificate program or 60 semester credit hours and two years of experience primarily dealing with the general public in a sales or consumer/customer service or problem resolution capacity./ppOTHER WAYS TO QUALIFY:/ppReachable on the Department of Civil Service Eligible list for Senior Consumer Frauds Representative./ppOR/ppEligible for a lateral transfer or eligible for transfer under 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.
