divh2Job Title/h2pSets up and operates Horizontal Milling centers with HeidenHain controls to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the positions essential functions and responsibilities. Trains other employees on the setup and operation of machines as needed./ph3Essential Functions and Responsibilities/h3pStudies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements./ppMeasures and marks reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining./ppSelects, aligns, and secures fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials./ppCalculates and sets HeidenHain control to regulate machining factors such as speeds, feeds, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media./ppStarts and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or controls media as required./ppWorks with engineering to analyze challenges and helps engineering to develop the best solutions to those challenges./ppMentors and teaches employees with lesser capabilities at any point in production./ppDemonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors./ppDemonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and workers, and collaborating with them to accomplish shared purposes and goals./ppAbides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observe all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations./ph3Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities/h3pAbility to balance castings and weldments to best material condition while holding parts in a free state to prevent warpage post machining./ppProficient in G code programming and Heidenhain programming, tooling, and fixturing./ppSelf-sufficient in all areas of machining and production./ppAble to machine large complex parts./ppAble to use height gages, calipers, micrometers, gage pins, thread gages, and optical comparators./ppHas troubleshooting skills./ppExpertise in reading and interpretation of blueprints and specifications./ppObserves and listens to operating equipment to diagnose cutting efficiency or malfunctions./ppKnowledge of mathematics, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry preferred./ppExpertise in work holding devices.
