Kitchen Helper Position

Cascade Lodge & Restaurant, Lutsen, MN needs 6 temporary and full-time Kitchen Helpers. Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment. Be familiar with and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures. Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period. Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications. Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, saut burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment. Prepare item for broiling, grilling, frying, saut ing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating. Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes. Handle, store and rotate all products properly. Assist with putting away delivery orders of food and supplies. Operate dish machine, clean dishes, workstations, cooking equipment, and food storage areas in accordance with food safety regulations. Perform food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed. Store ingredients according to prescribed food safety regulations. Close the kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assist others in closing the kitchen. Sweep and mop floors at the end of the closing shift. Report all damaged or faulty equipment to the Kitchen Manager. Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Line Lead. No experience requirement. No education requirements. Must have physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend, lift required load of up to 30 pounds. OJT provided. $17.59 per hour, overtime wage rate of $26.39, overtime may be available but is not guaranteed, general schedule of 35 hours per week, 7am-2pm or 2pm-9pm, workdays vary Sun-Sat. Applicants may be offered higher than the advertised wage rate due to experience or merit. The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid on a bi-weekly basis. The employer will make all deductions from workers paychecks that are required by law. The employer will provide optional housing accommodations from a third-party if relocating for the position and not within reasonable transport to jobsite. If employer-arranged housing is utilized the worker will be deducted approximately $15 per day. If relocating for the position, the cost of transportation and subsistence to the place of employment will be reimbursed, if half of the employment period is completed. This reimbursement will be calculated by the exact cost of the transportation expenses by airplane or bus fare, as well as subsistence expenses calculated at the minimum amount of $16.28 per 24-hour period of travel and the maximum amount of $68.00 per day. Return transportation and subsistence will be provided if the employment period is completed, or if dismissed early. The employer will reimburse the H-2B worker in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees that are to the benefit of the employer. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job will be provided to workers at no charge. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period.
