Underwriter Position

We are seeking a skilled underwriter to join our team, responsible for reviewing and evaluating both renewal and new business accounts in the marina, boat dealer, boat builder, and boat club segments. This role covers multiple lines of business, including Marine, General Liability, Property, Automobile, Worker's Compensation, and Bumbershoot. The underwriter will manage an assigned territory, focusing on both renewal review and new business development, while adhering to established underwriting guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and evaluate renewal and new business accounts for marinas, boat dealers, boat builders, and boat clubs.
  • Underwrite multiple lines of business: Marine, General Liability, Property, Automobile, Worker's Compensation, and Bumbershoot.
  • Conduct renewal reviews and drive new business development within the assigned territory.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including underwriters, claims and loss control personnel, and processing teams.
  • Maintain strong service orientation to foster positive relationships with brokers and other stakeholders.
  • Periodic travel may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years underwriting US property, package, automobile, worker's compensation and umbrella.
  • Strong business acumen including but not limited to the ability to: interact effectively with internal and external business partners and adapt to a changing market.
  • 2+ years underwriting US marine, property, package, automobile, worker's compensation and bumbershoot.
  • Demonstrated technical acumen in Property and Casualty lines of business.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to think creatively.
  • Proven time and desk management skills
  • Strong (verbal and written) communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, while demonstrating strong collaboration skills in a team environment
  • Solid organizational and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software
