We are looking for a dedicated individual to function as a cashier and/or stocker and act in a lead capacity in the absence of the store manager or assistant store manager. The role involves assisting in setting and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs, providing exemplary customer service, and performing other duties as necessary to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and teamwork. Additionally, the role requires protecting company assets and reducing losses. Duties and essential job functions include unloading trucks, following company work processes, stocking merchandise, restocking returned and recovered merchandise, assisting in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance, assisting customers by locating merchandise, bailing cardboard, taking out trash, dusting and mopping store floors, cleaning restrooms and stockrooms, greeting customers, maintaining register countertops, operating cash register and flatbed scanner, collecting payment from customers, cleaning the front end of the store, helping to maintain a clean and well-organized store, providing superior customer service leadership, and following company policies and procedures. In the absence of the store manager or assistant store manager, the role includes authorizing and signing for refunds and overrides, counting register, making bank deposits, assisting in maintaining strict cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to company security practices, monitoring cash levels, monitoring cameras for unusual activities, supplying cashiers with change, and completing all required paperwork and documentation. Knowledge and skills required include the ability to perform mathematical calculations, knowledge of cash handling procedures, ability to perform IBM cash register functions, knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices, effective interpersonal and oral and written communication skills, understanding of safety policies and practices, and ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance. Work experience and/or education preferred includes a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training). Working conditions involve frequent walking and standing, frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, frequent handling of merchandise and equipment, frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds, occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds, occasional climbing, fast-paced environment, moderate noise level, occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, occasional or regular driving/providing own transportation, and relocation assistance is not available for this position.
