Firearms Sales Associate
The Firearms Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, driving sales, and ensuring strict compliance with all federal, state, and local laws regarding the sale of firearms and related merchandise. This role requires an individual with a strong knowledge of firearms, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to promoting responsible gun ownership and safety. Key responsibilities include: Greet customers warmly and engage them to understand their needs regarding firearms, ammunition, accessories, and gear. Provide expert advice and demonstrate in-depth product knowledge on various types of firearms (handguns, rifles, shotguns), NFA items, and accessories. Guide customers through the selection process, providing objective comparisons and recommendations tailored to their experience level, intended use, and budget. Achieve personal and store sales goals by utilizing effective sales techniques and upselling/cross-selling accessories. Handle customer inquiries, issues, and complaints professionally and courteously to ensure a positive shopping experience. Compliance and legal requirements include: Strictly adhere to all ATF regulations and state/local laws. Accurately process all necessary paperwork for firearm transfers, including Federal Form 4473 and any state-specific documents. Conduct and process background checks (e.g., NICS) in compliance with all legal requirements. Verify customer eligibility and identification for all firearm purchases. Maintain and manage the store's Acquisition & Disposition (A&D) records with 100% accuracy. Identify and prevent potential "straw purchases" or other illegal activities. Store operations and safety include: Maintain a safe and secure environment by following all store safety protocols for handling and displaying firearms. Ensure all firearms are properly secured, displayed, and clear of ammunition before customer handling. Assist with the receiving, stocking, and inventory management of firearms, ammunition, and accessories. Perform daily visual checks and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, displays, and work areas. Qualifications include: Proven retail sales experience, preferably in the sporting goods or firearms industry. Comprehensive and practical knowledge of firearms, including various models, calibers, accessories, and safe handling procedures. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills. Age: 15 with parental consent. Basic math and computer proficiency (POS system experience preferred). Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
