Yard Jockey Shuttle Driver
Union Benefits & Pension Position Purpose: Responsible for moving trailers on the premises using a yard jockey or tractor, starting trailer refrigeration units, preparing trailers for deliveries. This position also covers local deliveries when necessary. Starting pay is $30.40/hour Essential Functions & Basic Duties: Sets trailers in dock doors for loading product Starts refrigeration units; checks units periodically Pulls loaded trailers away from dock and secures trailer doors Coordinates loading schedules with warehouse supervisors Occasionally makes local deliveries Shuttles trailers between UNFI local buildings Operates powered industrial equipment such as electric pallet jacks when necessary Performs other duties as necessary and required Education/Certification: Valid medical card as prescribed by the Federal Motor Carrier Administration and a valid state specific Commercial Driver's License, Class A. Ability to pass a written exam and road test. Required Knowledge: Understanding of related computer applications. Experience Required: Minimum of one year verified experience operating a tractor trailer. Must be 21 years of age. Skills/Abilities: Ability to speak, read and write English well. Safe driving skills, ability to drive large tractor trailers and ability to use related delivery equipment. Ability to pass a post-offer employment physical and drug test and subsequent enrollment in a random pool of drivers for drug and alcohol testing as required by law. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and customer service skills. Ability to communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
