Position Summary Directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.

Essential Functions

Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.

Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.

[Begins?]Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.

Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.

Regular and reliable attendance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Information Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.

Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.

Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Education

Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.

Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education.

Work Environment and Travel Requirements Works in well-lit, ventilated and climate controlled office environment with routine office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts.

In hospital environment, may be exposed to hazards and unusual elements, which may include but are not limited to bloodborne pathogens and/or contagious illnesses, toxic chemicals, and biohazardous materials which may require extensive safety precautions and the use of protective equipment.

Noise level is typical for an office and/or hospital environment.

Minimum overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
