Job Title Technical Writer
Base pay range $33.00/hr - $36.35/hr
Job Type Contract – 12 months
Job Summary The Technical Writer is responsible for developing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation such as equipment manuals, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions. This role focuses on organizing complex technical information into clear, concise, and well‑structured content for a technical audience.
Key Responsibilities Organize and complete writing assignments according to established standards for clarity, structure, style, and terminology
Develop and author mechanical service information procedures across multiple commodity areas, including Chassis, HVAC, Powertrain, Body, Interior, and Exterior
Edit and update existing technical documentation as required
Maintain records, version control, and revision histories of technical content
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather technical specifications and determine documentation requirements
Manage publication content by section, subsection, and information type
Communicate effectively with internal and external teams to ensure accuracy and consistency of published materials
Utilize documentation and visualization tools to create written and graphical technical content
Work in a production‑based environment with adherence to delivery schedules and deadlines
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field such as Engineering, Computer Science, English, Journalism, Communications, or similar
0–2 years of professional experience in technical writing or documentation (recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
Experience creating documentation for a technical audience
Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
Ability to read and understand basic programming or technical code
Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications Technical writing experience in mechanical, automotive, or industrial environments
Experience authoring service or maintenance procedures
Dealership or hands‑on technician experience
Illustration and technical graphics development skills
Familiarity with CAD visualization or technical illustration tools
Technical Skills Proficiency with documentation and productivity tools such as MS Word and MS Excel
Experience with structured authoring tools (e.g., XML‑based or similar platforms) preferred
Familiarity with technical visualization or mockup tools is a plus
On‑site position
Standard first‑shift schedule, Monday through Friday
Flexible work hours within a defined core schedule
