MEP Construction Lead | South Atlantic US
Position Overview
The Field Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all on-site electrical construction activities for high-end commercial interior projects throughout the DMV area. This role ensures projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents, local codes, and company quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, deep electrical knowledge, and experience managing complex, fast-paced interior buildouts.
Project & Field Management
- Oversee day-to-day field operations for multiple commercial interior electrical projects
- Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to meet project schedules
- Read, interpret, and enforce construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
- Plan and sequence work to align with general contractors, other trades, and client expectations
- Conduct regular site walks to verify progress, quality, and compliance
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise foremen, electricians, apprentices, and subcontractors
- Lead by example to maintain a professional, high-quality work environment
- Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to field staff
- Participate in manpower planning, crew assignments, and workforce development
Quality Control
- Ensure all installations meet company standards, NEC requirements, and local AHJ codes
- Maintain the high level of craftsmanship expected on luxury and Class A commercial interiors
- Identify and resolve field issues proactively to avoid rework or delays
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations on all job sites
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and job hazard analyses
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Scheduling & Coordination
- Work closely with Project Managers to track schedules, productivity, and costs
- Assist with short-interval planning, look-ahead schedules, and milestone tracking
- Coordinate inspections, shutdowns, and testing with authorities and clients
Communication & Documentation
- Serve as the primary field point of contact with general contractors and inspectors
- Provide daily reports, progress updates, and manpower tracking
- Assist with RFIs, field changes, and punch list completion
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction
- 3+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Senior Foreman
- Strong background in high-end commercial interior projects (office, law firms, financial institutions, corporate headquarters, etc.)
- Thorough knowledge of the NEC and local DMV electrical codes
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Proficient in reading blueprints, specs, and schedules
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the DMV
