Job Summary
The Organization Development Consultant partners with UCSF‑wide senior leadership, bringing expertise in organizational development, business process analysis, strategic planning, and effectiveness to projects with organization‑wide impact. They possess a deep understanding of business needs and how clinical, technical, and administrative systems can be leveraged to support those needs, addressing complex organizational challenges and crafting solutions that align with overarching objectives and resolve significant issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage high‑level strategic engagements with exceptional political sensitivity, evaluating circumstances and information to guide decision‑making.
- Select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve optimal results across projects.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment between organizational plans and objectives.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert in performance management and employee engagement, providing expertise and contributions in these areas.
- Provide sound judgment and exercise strategic thinking to guide organizations toward workable strategies and solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in organizational development and effectiveness, with expert knowledge of theories, models, and customized interventions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the consulting process, including leading high‑significance engagements from inception to conclusion.
- Experience in higher education and large academic medical centers, with an understanding of client priorities, issues, and constraints.
- Superior analytical, problem‑solving, project‑planning, and implementation skills.
- Strong consulting, relationship‑building, and strategic thinking abilities.
- Skilled in navigating organizational complexity and change‑management programs.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for influencing and facilitating sustained change.
- Ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize, and draw unbiased conclusions.
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to influence people at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree.

Benefits & Compensation
Contract: 100% time; full benefits including medical, dental, vision, pension plans, and savings options. Salary range: $167,800–$251,700 annual rate (subject to additional approvals and internal equity).
