Position Overview
The Technical Writer (Training Materials) II is responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating technical documentation and training materials supporting field and project operations. This role partners closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Training Teams, and Operations to ensure procedures, work instructions, and training modules are accurate, current, and accessible. The position supports
technical field roles
and requires strong documentation skills, the ability to translate technical information into clear training content, and comfort interacting with field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop
new procedures
and technical training documentation Implement requested procedure updates and revisions in coordination with SMEs Update procedures following SME revalidation Track and follow up on procedure creation and revision requests Create and edit
Worker Assessment documents
(Knowledge & Skills) upon procedure approval Manage and maintain Worker Assessment documentation within
Training SharePoint Ensure all procedures and assessment documents are
accurate, current, and user-accessible Partner with Training Teams and LMS Administrators to sustain
curriculum roadmaps Ensure procedures housed in
PMeT
are current and available Support development of
training modules and materials
for technical field roles Skills and Qualifications
Required
Excellent written and spoken
English proficiency Proficiency in
Microsoft Office
and related documentation tools Strong understanding of
document management systems and controls Experience developing:
Operating Procedures Maintenance Procedures Work Instructions Training Materials
Ability to interpret
engineering drawings and technical manuals Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with SMEs Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments Comfortable working in
multicultural and multi-national environments Preferred
Degree in
Science, Engineering (Mechanical or similar), or Technical discipline Hands-on field or tool experience Experience supporting
technical or field-based training content Additional Details
Travel reimbursed as needed
(no per diem offered) Houston-based candidates should expect approximately
40% travel/field visits Extensive experience
not required ; strong technical aptitude and communication skills valued
