Junior Designer
Reports to
Senior Designer
Installation Team, Warehouse Team, Operations Team, Purchasing Team
Summary
The Junior Designer role is responsible for site surveying, buying, assisting with the design process, managing their own projects, warehouse coordination, installation oversight and coordination.
Responsibilities
Manage the production of furniture, art, and accessory plans based on guidelines set by the Director of Design and Senior Designers
Utilize strong client presentation skills to effectively communicate design concepts and solutions
Create and manage the digital drawing set for all space planning purposes
Potentially coordinate resources in alignment with budget and tight deadlines, ability to quickly and creatively make design decisions in field as it relates to overall design intent
Conduct in-depth site surveys of Active Projects to record the necessary conditions for executing a full design concept.
Oversee internal company painters for any custom commissioned paintwork, either on canvas, or in situ (murals, etc.)
Shop online and in person for items to be used in the design of projects
Oversee the day-to-day installation of projects and collaborate with the company’s Warehouse and Installation teams for receivables / deliveries
Day-to-day management of project budgets set by the Senior Designers and tracked by the Senior Director of Projects
Manage project timelines and make any necessary updates and/or changes in order to stay on assigned timeline under the direction of the Senior Director of Projects
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in adjusting project priorities as needed to meet changing demands
Proficiently navigate the company’s proprietary software for inventory and project management
Respond to and execute internal feedback as provided by the Senior Designers, Director of Design, or Senior Director of Projects
Respond to and execute external feedback as provided by Clients
Attend weekly design meetings with design team members
Travel to and from project sites as needed
Oversee installation styling and general moving activities as needed
Select or assist in proposing pieces either from the company’s warehouse, or via new purchases, for furniture, art, and accessory selection for Senior Designer review and approval, subject also to Director of Design comments
Select or assist in the production of paint schedules and finish schedules
Compile and/or assist in the documentation each project
Coordinate or assist with vendor relationships on a per project basis, including submit their invoices to finance
Skills and Experience
Degree or training in Interior Design, Architecture, or similar field preferred
Professional experience beyond internships (1 year+)
Faculties and working knowledge of an Architectural and/or Interior Design professional practice
Experienced with AutoCAD. Proficiency in Rhino and SketchUp preferred, but not required
Proficient in Adobe Creative suite, Pages, and Microsoft Office
