Personal Banker Summary Personal Bankers are responsible for establishing, developing, and retaining customer relationships by introducing Mechanics Cooperative Bank products, services, and the Bank’s business partners while providing prompt, courteous, and efficient customer service. They also support the branch’s growth goals while adhering to operational excellence. This position requires open, closing, and Saturday shifts and assistance at various branch locations as needed.

Location : Taunton & Swansea, MA

Status : Full Time

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Coach team to deepen customer relationships while delivering excellent customer service.

Take ownership and address customer concerns for resolution, ensuring necessary research for a positive outcome.

Process all teller transactions accurately and efficiently.

Act as lead for scheduling and facilitating Bank at Work sessions and participating in customer courtesy call initiatives.

Establish new accounts—including consumer, business, retirement, and collateral loan accounts—while managing follow‑up within guidelines.

Accept and assist customers with consumer loan applications.

Serve as sales champion for all delivery channels (ATM, Online Banking, Telephone Banking) and the Bank’s business partners to contribute to branch goals.

Perform supervisory functions as needed for reviewing and approving transactions.

Perform opening and closing responsibilities for the assigned branch location as required.

Present features and benefits of all Bank products and services, including business partners, to customers.

Assist in utilizing effective marketing/merchandising techniques, leveraging the Bank’s products and partners to improve cross‑sell and business development.

Create a positive team environment by modeling appropriate behaviors.

Set the standard for excellent customer service.

Adhere to all applicable Bank policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

Assist in planning and participating in branch growth meetings.

May be required to assist other branch locations as needed.

Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and automobile personal liability insurance.

May be required to attend and participate in Call Night sessions.

Must wear a name tag displaying first and last name.

Must possess a mobile phone required to perform multifactor authentication on system applications and as a method of contact.

Perform additional duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Thorough knowledge of teller operations and the Bank’s core system.

Comprehensive understanding of Mechanics Cooperative Bank’s products and services, including business partners.

Ability to develop and deepen customer relationships by recommending appropriate products and services.

Strong customer service skills, with the ability to ask questions to identify needs and expand relationships.

Thorough understanding of consumer lending products.

Strong compliance and federal regulation knowledge and understanding.

Good problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.

Knowledge of basic computer functions and strong math skills.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Ability to cultivate a strong working environment by coaching and training tellers on key accountabilities and tasks.

Must be able to lift twenty pounds.

Retail/sales experience or equivalent work experience preferred.
