Executive Director, Head of Family Office and Tax
The Senior Tax Manager is responsible for all tax planning, structuring and compliance for both the management company and fund functions at a prominent Multi-Strat Hedge Fund in New York City.
Base Pay Range $175,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr
Additional Compensation Annual Bonus
Responsibilities
Lead tax consulting calls with external providers, including staying on top of legislation updates and briefing management on impacts and suggested responses
Continuous evaluation of optimal tax structures for both the management company and the funds
Prepare analysis of business impact of local tax laws
Liaise and own the relationship with accounting/tax firms for K1s and tax filings for all global entities
Manage complex partnership PNL allocations
Administer withholding and remittance of Pass‑through entity tax
Stay up to speed on current tax legislation to determine impact on the firm/funds and plan accordingly
Fund structuring for new fund launches (customized fund of ones for single investor vehicles as well as multi‑investor vehicles)
Research tax treatment and field tax questions from portfolio managers regarding security specific tax questions
Explore tax considerations when onboarding new portfolio managers/pods as well as sign‑off on new product approvals as it relates to tax treatment, including emerging markets
Requirements
10+ years of experience with a Hedge Fund or other alternative investment advisor/real estate advisor is preferred
Knowledge of Hedge Fund manager structures, as well as fund structures is required
Understanding of partnership taxation including experience with tax allocations is strongly preferred
