Sales Coordinator
Location: 25 – Hins County, MS
Salary: $43,509.31 – $47,860.24 annually

About the Position The Economic Development Specialist I will serve as the Sales Coordinator for Visit MS by advancing Mississippi’s tourism economy by actively promoting the state as a premier travel destination both statewide and nationally. Working under direction of the Chief Sales Officer, this individual will be responsible for generating visitation through strategic sales efforts, managing relationships with Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) and state partners, participating in regional and national trade shows, and collaborating on destination development initiatives that enhance Mississippi’s tourism offerings. The individual will have frequent overnight and out-of-state travel as well as attendance at evening and weekend industry events as needed. This is a state service position.
Responsibilities
Sales and Market Development
Promote Mississippi’s tourism assets across the state and throughout the United States to drive visitation.
Execute sales strategies aligned with Visit Mississippi’s tourism and economic development goals.
Identify and pursue new domestic market opportunities.
Support the Chief Sales Officer in achieving statewide sales targets.
Partner and Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with DMOs, CVBs, attractions, and tourism stakeholders.
Serve as a liaison between Visit Mississippi and regional/state tourism partners.
Foster collaboration among public and private tourism entities.
Trade Shows and Industry Representation
Represent Visit Mississippi at regional and national trade shows and industry events.
Conduct sales appointments, presentations, and networking activities.
Coordinate pre- and post-event follow-up to convert leads.
Destination Development Support
Support destination development efforts that enhance visitor readiness and marketability.
Identify tourism product gaps and emerging opportunities.
Provide market insights to inform promotional strategies.
Reporting and Coordination
Track sales activity and leads using Visit Mississippi systems.
Prepare regular reports for the Chief Sales Officer.
Collaborate with marketing, communications, and other internal teams.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
Knowledge of destination marketing organizations and tourism industry dynamics.
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 0‑2 years of experience.
