Job Details Department: Design Reports To: Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary The Interior Design Manager leads and oversees all functions of the Design Department for our client across multiple office locations (Cincinnati, OH and Louisville, KY). This role is responsible for workflow and project planning, specification quality control, employee development, leadership responsibilities, and ensuring consistency in processes, communication, and deliverables across geographically dispersed teams. The Manager ensures projects are executed accurately and efficiently while maintaining high customer service standards company-wide. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Workload & Project Management Plans, assigns, and monitors project workload for designers across multiple office locations. Ensures balanced distribution of work, consistent communication, and aligned priorities across all offices. Tracks department hours, project allocation, and productivity metrics. Ensures deadlines and client expectations are met through effective coordination with internal teams. Specification Oversight & Quality Assurance Oversees standards for project specifications, drawings, and installation documents across all locations. Implements and manages a consistent "double-check" system to ensure accuracy. Ensures all offices follow brand standards, documentation requirements, and deliverable expectations. Troubleshoots specification or planning issues and provides remote or on-site support as needed. Employee Development & Coaching Provides ongoing coaching, mentorship, and skill development for designers across all locations. Conducts regular virtual and in-person check-ins to ensure engagement, alignment, and professional growth. Identifies training needs and develops targeted development plans for individuals and teams. Promotes cultural alignment and collaboration across remote and in-office teams. Leadership Responsibilities Manages PTO scheduling, staffing coverage, and workload distribution across locations. Participates in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new designers company-wide. Addresses performance concerns promptly and professionally in collaboration with leadership. Ensures all offices adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Supports change management and reinforces company values across all locations. Client Interaction & Support Meets with customers in person or remotely based on project requirements. Communicates client needs clearly to design teams to ensure alignment and execution. Provides expertise in product selection, finishes, specifications, LEED considerations, and space planning. Ensures a consistent, high-quality client experience across all projects and locations. Sales & Client Engagement Presents design concepts, solutions, and recommendations confidently in both formal and informal settings. Demonstrates consultative selling skills by identifying client needs and recommending appropriate solutions. Builds credibility with clients through strong product knowledge, professionalism, and communication. Supports sales efforts by assisting with project qualification, design rationale, and influencing purchasing decisions. Represents our client professionally during meetings, showroom visits, site visits, and presentations. Required Competencies Leadership in a Multi-Location Environment Ability to lead, support, and develop team members across multiple physical locations. Strong skills in remote communication, workload balancing, and fostering team cohesion. Communication Excellent verbal and written communication across in-person, virtual, and digital platforms. Ability to set expectations clearly and maintain alignment across locations. Technical Skills Proficiency in CET (required), AutoCAD, CAP, Project Spec, Toggle, Core, and Microsoft 365. Planning & Organization Strong ability to prioritize, schedule, and allocate resources across multiple offices. Effective at forecasting workload and planning department capacity. Experience managing outsourced vendors when required. Problem Solving & Process Improvement Ability to identify issues, standardize processes, and implement improvements across teams. Customer Service & Sales Support Ensures consistent, high-quality client experience regardless of project location. Supports sales initiatives through design expertise and solution-oriented thinking. Teamwork & Collaboration Fosters collaboration among designers working across multiple offices or remotely. Builds strong working relationships with internal teams, vendors, and clients. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and a minimum of five years of relevant experience, including prior leadership responsibility. Experience managing multi-location or hybrid teams is strongly preferred.
