The City of Murphy seeks to add a part-time Deputy Court Clerk to its dynamic team! The Deputy Court Clerk is responsible for assisting the public at the service window and by phone, processing payments, preparing and organizing court documents, and supporting court staff with routine tasks. The pay plan range below is shown to represent opportunities for growth and development within this opportunity. We are seeking to hire between the Min to Mid-range of the pay grade shown dependent upon qualifications. Work Performed Provides customer service to defendants, parents of defendants, attorneys, and the public at the service window and by phone, answering questions, setting court dates, and providing general information on court procedures. Receives payments for fines, fees, and cash bonds in the form of cash, check, money order, or credit card; issues receipts and balances cash drawer. Prepares and organizes court files, both electronic and paper, including scanning, filing, and digital imaging. Prepares basic court documents such as subpoenas, payment plans, notices, and letters; organizes materials for court dockets. Enters and updates case information in the court software system accurately. Notifies defendants, complainants, witnesses, and jurors of court dates and appearances. Explains municipal court procedures to defendants, complainants, and attorneys in person, on the phone, or in writing. Assists Judge and court personnel in the courtroom as assigned. Processes case files, judgments, court transcripts, and appeal bonds as required. Works with the bailiff on warrant collections and maintaining warrant files. Responds to inquiries and resolves routine complaints from defendants, complainants, and attorneys. Adheres to departmental, personnel, and safety rules and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) One (1) year of Clerical, Customer Service, and cash-handling experience. Must be bondable Supplemental Information

Preferred Qualifications Currently hold, or obtain with two (2) years of hire, a Level I Municipal Court Clerk Certification as issued by the Texas Court Clerks Association (TCCA) Experience in a municipal or justice court setting, or equivalent combination of experience and training. Municipal Court experience in Texas preferred. Bilingual skills helpful. Special Requirements May be required to pass a drug screen and/or pre-employment job performance assessment Required to occasionally lift twenty-five (25) pounds
