Mortgage Loan Processing Assistant
The Mortgage Loan Processing Assistant is responsible for obtaining necessary information to meet quality standards for completeness, accuracy, and timelines established for the loan type. This individual will provide highly skilled support to the Mortgage Loan Processors. The Processing Assistant is able to interface effectively and professionally with clients, Loan Officers, and branch referring partners. Essential Functions Review all loan applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance Image/index, review, and submit completed files via the loan origination system to the underwriting department Reviews loan files for appropriate documents including credit report, updates title work, appraisal, final inspections, hazard insurance, and flood certification and flood insurance if required. Manage a timeline on all assigned loan files, ensuring timely receipt of all required documents, following up with the appropriate party, and scheduling appointments as necessary Directly communicate with Loan Officers, clients, service providers, and branch referring partners Provide quality customer service by answering questions for external and internal customers in a timely and professional manner. Communicate with various companies to obtain property survey, flood certificate, title commitment, and payoff information Able to interface effectively and professionally with applicants/borrowers, realtors, builders, appraisers, title companies, and others in the department to ensure efficient and timely workflow and perform related duties as required. Flexibility to work varying hours and overtime as needed. Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key's clients and Key. Education High School Diploma or equivalent experience (required) Work Experience Prior experience in residential mortgage processing on agency products (preferred) Skills Proficiency in MS Windows and Office (Word, Excel, etc.) Knowledge of RESPA and general mortgage/consumer lending regulations Managing the end-to-end workflow of mortgage applications, including document collection, verification, and submission to underwriting. Strong math and analytical skills Foundational knowledge of tax returns and loan products (FHA, VA, Conventional, Jumbo preferred; CP, USDA, HELOC a plus) Ability to organize, verify, and track large volumes of borrower documentation with precision and speed Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Team-oriented with strong networking and relationship-building skills High integrity and trustworthiness Demonstrated customer service excellence Skill in identifying potential red flags in borrower profiles and escalating concerns appropriately Core Competencies All KeyBank employees are expected to demonstrate Key's Values and sustain proficiency in identified Leadership Competencies. Compensation and Benefits This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $18.75 - $24.52 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, and geographic location.
