Director - Portfolio Management Commercial/Corporate Banking
BMO U.S. is hiring a Director to manage and grow a portfolio of commercial banking loans and credit solutions, including direct reports. The role requires strong credit analysis, portfolio monitoring, and client relationship management.
Responsibilities
- Analyze credit information to support lending decisions for new and existing loans.
- Make credit decisions and recommendations in compliance with bank policies while maintaining excellent client service.
- Negotiate loan structures and terms that align client requirements with the bank’s risk appetite and policies.
- Develop comprehensive credit structures to meet the transactionalBeschlüsse clients.
- Sign off on new, renewal and extension loans within delegated authority.
- Conduct portfolio monitoring including covenant compliance to identify deteriorating credit conditions.
- Perform performance analysis, engage with clients, and assess industry trends to identify risks and opportunities.
- Evaluate portfolio performance and recommend capital allocation strategies that optimize returns.
- Handle escalated client concerns and service requests, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.
- Lead complex proposal development and deliver presentations to capture new business and expand client relationships.
- Engage with industry peers and networks to gather competitive insights and best practices.
- Build and maintain client relationships to ensure long‑term financial performance in collaboration with Relationship Managers.
- Structure and support new, renewal and extension loans aligned with client needs and bank risk policies.
- Conduct financial analysis and risk assessments for clients’ credit information for an assigned portfolio.
- Monitor portfolio performance for assigned commercial banking clients, taking corrective action when required.
- Minimize BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to credit policies and regulatory standards.
- Serve as a point of contact for service requests and escalations.
- Support initiatives to enhance service quality, acquire new business and expand client relationships.
- Identify revenue and cross‑selling opportunities to enhance portfolio growth.
- Leverage analysis tools to nurture and grow a portfolio that exceeds ROE thresholds.
- Manage accurate data entry into BMO’s systems and use data to support decision‑making.
- Operate at a group/enterprise╝ level and serve as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Apply creativity to address unique or ambiguous situations and find complex solutions.
- Implement changes in response to shifting trends.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
- Preferred 7+ years of relevant experience in credit or lending instruments or financial operations in a corporate or banking environment.
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting preferred.
- Credit‑qualifiable position requires credit qualifications and associated knowledge according to portfolio requirements.
- Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.

Salary
$122,400.00 – $228,000.00 (Salaried)
