Client Portfolio Manager – Muni's (NY or Chicago)
Base pay range: $150,000 - $200,000 per year.
Additional compensation types Annual Bonus
A well-established investment management firm seeks a Municipal Investment Specialist with 5-10 years of experience to support and help scale a rapidly expanding municipal bond platform. This role offers a unique blend of product, investment, and client‑facing exposure within a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. The position can be based in either New York or Chicago.
Responsibilities
Act as a day‑to‑day resource for the municipal credit team, partnering closely with portfolio managers, traders, operations, and distribution teams.
Support senior investment specialists by developing reporting and analytics to monitor strategy performance and competitive positioning.
Respond to client and advisor inquiries—covering trade activity, account‑level details, and performance—by coordinating with internal investment and trading teams.
Collaborate with sales partners to help drive new business, communicating investment insights and product positioning across RIA, wirehouse, and independent channels.
Grow into a client‑facing specialist role, representing the platform in advisor and client meetings, calls, and presentations.
Analyze account‑level fixed income metrics and work with operations teams to resolve data or system issues.
Contribute to product education and outreach by preparing presentations, portfolio commentary, and marketing materials.
Partner with internal stakeholders to enhance SMA service capabilities, systems, and processes in support of a fast‑growing business.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; progress toward the CFA or a similar designation is advantageous.
5 to 10 years of experience in financial services, ideally within fixed income, investment product management, or municipal bond strategies.
Strong interest in or working knowledge of municipal bonds; direct experience with municipal investments is a significant plus.
Ability to clearly communicate investment concepts to financial advisors and internal teams.
Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills, with familiarity across fixed income concepts such as yield, duration, amortization, and net investment income.
High attention to detail and comfort navigating investment systems to source and interpret account‑level data.
Excellent presentation, writing, and interpersonal skills.
A proactive mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred Skills
Direct experience with municipal investments is a significant plus.
