We are seeking an experienced Commercial Property and Casualty Underwriter to join the Underwriting team at Victor. With exciting plans for growth and product development, this is a great time to become part of the team.
This role will be based in our Witham office. After an initial induction period, the role will support hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days expected in the office and the remaining 3 from home.
As an experienced Underwriter, you will carry out a wide range of underwriting activities relating to authorised products. The role will be involved in executing the company strategy and materially contributing to the achievement of our financial plans.
You will be playing a pivotal role in achieving our financial goals while delivering exceptional customer service. Your expertise will shine as you forge strong relationships with our brokers, ensuring they receive top‑notch service and support.
We will rely on you to:
Contribute to and implement the underwriting strategy for all products, working within our established risk appetite
Directly contribute towards financial KPI's, including balancing the achievement of revenue without any detriment to underwriting profitability
Deliver outstanding Victor service levels on all authorised products
Have significant awareness of and ensure adherence of all regulatory requirements, guidelines and working practices - both internally and externally
Spot distribution trends and report back on broker behaviours.
Act within underwriting authority
Have an in‑depth knowledge of relevant class/ product specialisms
Keep pace with market trends and developments for authorised industry segments
Build strong relationships with broking and capacity partners
Build strong relationship with internal stakeholders
What you need to have:
Good understanding of the commercial insurance market
At least 3 years commercial property and casualty underwriting experience
Have held underwriting authority for chosen class of business previously
Experience of working in teams and successful record of delivering results
Progress towards CII qualification desirable or equivalent experience
