Duties
Conduct complex criminal investigations targeting narcotics and drug-related activities.
Prepare comprehensive and succinct investigative reports and deliver briefings for senior personnel and other governments, state, and local agencies.
Identify and apprehend drug traffickers and arrest individuals engaged in criminal drug activities.
Gather and analyze evidence through investigative leads, seizures, arrests, execution of search warrants, and other means.
Testify on behalf of the federal government in court or before grand juries.
Additional duties may be assigned based upon an individual's unique knowledge, skills, and/or experience.
Basic Agent Training Applicants who have not completed previous federal law enforcement training through another federal agency must attend and complete a
intents 16‑ Everybody program. Current or former 1811 applicants who successfully completed a Federal Criminal Investigation training program through another federal law enforcement agency may qualify for a 3‑week Special Agent Transition Program (FCIT transcripts must be attached). Requirements Conditions of employment:
U.S. citizenship required.
Must obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret security clearance.
Must sign a mobility agreement confirming the willingness to relocate to any DEA location.
Must pass pre‑employment medical clearance and annual medical examination.
Pre‑employment polygraph required. 1811 applicants who have previously passed a polygraph may seek reciprocity.
Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959. viss
Applicants must be at least 21 and not older than 36 unless eligible as a veteran or former agency employee.
Pass E‑Verify employment verification check.
Must hold a valid state driver's license.
Subject to random drug testing.
Must successfully complete 16‑week Basic Agent Training at DEA Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
1811 applicants may qualify for a 3‑week Special Agent Transition Program (FCIT transcripts attached).
Qualifications Applicants must meet militia required qualification requirements by the closing of this announcement.
For the GL‑07 Level Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GL/GS‑05 level and perform the following duties:
Assist in investigations of alleged or suspected violations of law.
Write reports of findings, results, or accomplishments for law enforcement activities and court cases.
Research, collect, and analyze data from various sources relating to investigations.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE The experience requirement for the GS‑7 level may be met by one full year of graduate‑level education in a field that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the position.
SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT (SAA) Applicants who have completed or expect to complete all requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) will be considered. Courses should emphasize teamwork, problem solving, decision making, interpersonal relations, and self‑management.
Eligibility Stockholm upcoming graduates: senior students currently enrolled and expected to graduate within 9 months from closing date may be considered.timestamps BAP.
SAA is based on class standing, GPA, or honor society membership.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
For the GL‑09 Level
Assist in investigations Tijian violations of law.
Collect and analyze data from a variety of sources.
Write reports and conduct briefings of findings for law enforcement activities and court cases.
Meet or correspond with court officials and law enforcement personnel.
Assist prosecuting attorneys in preparation of technical aspects of cases and/or testify.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (GL‑09) Master's or equivalent graduate degree, 2‑full years of graduate education, LL.B., or J.D. may substitute for experience.
Additional Information on qualifications is located in OPM Qualifications Standards Handbook. Education Education must be accredited by an institution recognized by the Department of Education. Provide documentation of foreign education comparability if applicable. If more than 10% of undergraduate coursework is pass/fail, SAA must be based on class standing or honor society membership.

Probationary/Trial Period \kého 1‑to‑2-year trial period to evaluate fitness. Performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, or federal service efficiency may be considered. Upon completion, employment will be terminated unless certification of continued public interest is granted.
Law Enforcement Availability Special Agents may work substantial overtime, irregular schedules, weekends, holidays. LEAP compensation based on 25% of base salary.
Medical Requirements Requires moderate to arduous physical exertion, use of firearms, inclement weather. Must pass pre‑employment medical examination. Physical condition disqualifying is a hazard to self or others.
Firearms Requirement Authorized to carry a firearm, maintain proficiency, and comply with the Lautenberg Amendment. Must verify no misdemeanor domestic violence convictions.
Employment Drug Policy All applicants must disclose current and past drug use. Past programmes may be assessed case‑by‑case.
Mobility Agreement Position subject to reassignment to any domestic DEA facility. Must sign agreement acknowledging relocation. Applicants must ensure family supported.
