General Definition of Work
The crew chief, maintenance, under general supervision, performs journey-level work with limited decision‑making discretion supporting the construction, installation, renovation, maintenance, and repair of district buildings, grounds, systems, and properties. Position develops work schedules for staff and monitors completion of assigned work. Employee performs both school-based and district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Supervisor, Maintenance Operations.

Salary/Status Hourly NC 10 / Full-time, 12 months
Reports To Supervisor, Maintenance Operations
Place of Work The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
Participate in the construction, installation, renovation, maintenance, and repair of district facilities by utilizing tools, materials, and equipment appropriate to the maintenance trade
Perform skilled journey-level work for the assigned trade
Lead and serve as the technical expert for an assigned crew. Guide, direct, and coach others regarding application and interpretation of technical trade skills
Plan, prioritize, and assign work tasks to crew members
Instruct crew members in proper work methods and standards, monitor crew work quality, ensure adherence to time schedules and safe work practices, provide performance feedback, and input performance evaluations
Identify areas needing repair or maintenance and take corrective action
Maintain accurate records of material and costs
Provide input on the selection of crew members
Assist the supervisor with getting quotes for contract assignments when required
Perform related work as assigned or required
