Saginaw Michigan Field Property Claim Specialist Field Property Claim Specialist responsible for handling complex property claims in the Saginaw, Michigan region, including coverage analysis, negotiation, investigative work, and claim closure.

Responsibilities

Review assigned claims and maintain accurate documentation in the claims management system.

Contact insureds and other parties to set expectations, initiate documentation, and gather evidence.

Conduct detailed coverage analysis and identify all possible policyholder benefits.

Create additional sub‑claims when necessary and complete investigations of claim facts, limits, exclusions, and recovery potential.

Review damages, determine applicability of state law and other factors, and evaluate financial value of the loss.

Approve payments for the appropriate parties and refer claims to other units when necessary (e.g., Underwriting, Recovery Units, Claims Special Investigation Unit).

Document and code claim files, complete all closing activities, and utilize strong negotiating skills.

Prepare damage estimates using Xactimate, review estimates for accuracy, and monitor contractor repair status and updates.

Required Qualifications

Education:

Associate degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or related field; or equivalent work experience; completion of the Insurance Institute of America's General Insurance Program, Associate in Claims, Associate in Management, or equivalent; completion of CPCU coursework or designation; Xactware or Xactimate training; demonstrated knowledge of the ACG Claim Representative Training Program; eligibility to acquire a State Adjuster's license within 90 days if required; valid State Driver's License.

Ability to:

Lift up to 25 pounds; climb ladders and walk on roofs.

Experience:

Three years or equivalent training in negotiation of claim settlements, securing and evaluating evidence, preparing manual and electronic estimates, subrogation claims, resolving coverage questions, taking statements, and establishing clear evaluation and resolution plans.

Knowledge and Skills:

Advanced knowledge of the Fair Trade Practices Act, subrogation procedures, intercompany arbitration, handling simple litigation, building construction and repair techniques; ability to handle claims to line Claim Handling Standards, follow ACG claims policies, work within ACG systems, perform basic file review and investigations, communicate effectively, provide customer service, analyze and solve problems, prioritize tasks, manage time, operate a motor vehicle for field visits; research, analyze, and interpret subrogation laws; may travel or overnight stay outside assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:
