Product Specialist — Seaboard Foods Seaboard Foods, a leading pork producer, is seeking a Product Specialist for its Merriam, KS office. The role maximizes profits, throughput, and minimizes costs across sales channels, collaborating with cross‑functional teams such as sales, FSQA, analytics, scheduling, and operations.

Responsibilities

Utilize cost models to develop daily and quarterly break‑even models to assist with pricing and inventory management.

Work with the sales group, operations, and supply chain throughout daily activities to manage sold positions and pricing.

Participate in weekly market forecast and raw material demand meetings.

Collaborate with sales and supply chain to evaluate and establish frozen positions for Value‑Added products, including timing for implementation.

Actively manage freezer inventories, including distressed sales.

Work with the analytics department to develop and manage production realization reporting fortoos‑Added items.

Travel to plants to identify cost‑reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities within Value‑Added product lines.

Review and submit all SKU changes, test interims, and new items needed for specified sales channels.

Become the resident expert on the items within the span of control.

Manage and actively sell Value‑Added distressed products.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 1‑2 years’ experience in animal protein product management, sales, or a comparable role.

Understanding of product development and commercialization.

Understanding and familiarity with protein/commodity markets.

Familiarity with customers and sales tactics.

Excellent communication skills across telephone, internet, and face‑to‑face interactions.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of financial models specific to animal protein products, especially pork market items.

Familiarity with pork slaughter and fabrication facilities, processes, equipment, and cuts.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft AI tools.

Schedule Normal business hours with occasional need to work outside regular scheduling and travel as requested.

Work Environment

Primarily an office setting with periodic visits to processing facilities.

Noise levels vary by location.

Hours and days may be adjusted based on departmental needs and managerial discretion, including after‑hours, weekends, and overnight travel.
