The Electrical Designer's role supports clients and contractors with factory testing, construction, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities for medium and low voltage electrical power distribution equipment and process instrumentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Create electrical installation details, one-line diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, area classification, and grounding.
Size and specify electrical equipment including raceways, fittings, panels, conductors, terminations, etc.
Walk down a site, collecting all necessary information to perform design work.
Troubleshoot and commission medium voltage electrical equipment.
Collaborate with a design team of engineers and drafters to produce a complete drawing installation package.
Field experience with medium voltage (2.5kV and above) electrical equipment such as switchgear, motor control centers, transformers
Experience designing medium voltage electrical equipment.
Practical field experience with the installation of medium voltage electrical equipment
Field experience commissioning and/or troubleshooting medium voltage electrical equipment.
Practical field experience routing cable
Familiar with NEC and other electrical-related codes and standards
Knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD
Education and/or Experience
5+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer
Experience with electrical area classification
Programming experience in any of these areas:
Reclosers
Protective relays
PLC's
