Junior Account Executive
The Junior Account Executive supports sales and inside sales activities, manages a portfolio of customer accounts of moderate complexity, and develops new business opportunities for all Seaboard Marine services, with a focus on the assigned division. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Qualifications
Required Three (3) years of recent customer service experience in the logistics industry, to include direct, face-to-face engagement with clients. Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish at an advanced level (speak, read, and write). A valid driver's license with clean driving records. Intermediate computer skills (in programs such as MS Word, Excel & Outlook). Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to work effectively with sales and pricing personnel as well as with demanding customers. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and fellow employees. Possess strong organization and time management skills. Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to respond to common inquiries and follow procedures and instructions. Ability to prepare a variety of reports. Ability to think logically and make sound decisions based on own discretion. Flexibility to attend conferences and trade shows, as may be required. Ability to travel domestically and overseas as deemed necessary by sales management. Employee must be able to operate own vehicle or have access to reliable transportation to perform the job function of visiting the customer's worksite. Flexibility to work extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends. Preferred Experience in outside sales. Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Manage a portfolio of assigned, moderate-complexity customer accounts, ensuring high levels of service and satisfaction under the guidance of senior sales staff. Independently identify and pursue new sales opportunities for smaller accounts, escalating larger opportunities to management. Plan & manage a regular contact cycle according to the standards and directives of sales management. This will include the daily reporting of all planned/effected sales visits and calls, making a minimum number of visits and/or calls as required by sales management, and maximizing effectiveness through proper geographical identification of accounts. This will also include calls while entertaining customers and traveling. Must visit customers at the customer's designated sites, under the guidance of management and senior sales staff when needed, to effectively secure the customer's business relationships. Generate and analyze sales leads, market reports, and competition statistics. Maintain and update customer records and account profiles. Participate in customer meetings, sales presentations, trade shows, and industry events. Provide prompt and effective problem-solving for customer issues; request guidance and/or escalate when needed. Utilize all designated/provided resources and tools as directed by management in daily job functions. Submit a weekly report to management detailing the primary activities, outcomes, and critical topics undertaken during the week. Secondary Keep abreast of all tariff changes, including any new regulations and changes in rate applicability, maintaining a constant and proactive line of communication with the Pricing/Compliance/Traffic Staff on related issues. Maintain proper and accurate expense records of all customer entertainment, travel and other expenses in compliance with company policies. Flexibility in adapting to changing market trends and conditions. Able to function comfortably in a fast-paced environment. Performs related duties as required by management. Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their fingers. The employee must drive during daylight and evening hours continuously on streets and highways. The employee must be able to travel via airplane, train, and other modes of transportation occasionally. The employee is continuously required to talk and/or hear. The employee is continuously required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Safety Requirements
Report on safety hazards. Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, or property damage. Wear protective PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as instructed or necessary. Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and rules. Refuse any unsafe task or operation. Participate in safety meetings and training. Receives direct supervision from the Sales Director. Does not exercise supervision over any position but may request the assistance of office/clerical staff. Conditions
Indoor office environment (70%) with temperature controlled intermittently during the day. Outdoors environment driving to visit and meet with customers (30%) and exposed to non-controlled temperature.
