About the Role" As a
Senior AI Designer , you'll design new Generative AI experiences and enhance existing ones-focusing on improving interactions between users and AI models. You'll act as the bridge between user needs and technical capabilities, working closely with Product Managers and Data Scientists in an agile environment. You'll also take ownership of Elsevier's
Generative AI Design Framework , helping shape standards and best practices for AI-driven design across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and optimize user interactions with Generative AI tools. Fine-tune AI output presentation for clarity, brevity, and usefulness. Apply behavioral science to influence positive user behavior. Prototype and validate AI concepts with users before development. Track and analyze performance using both qualitative and quantitative data. Translate user insights into actionable AI design strategies. Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Data Science, Engineering) to deliver user-centered solutions. Create and maintain Elsevier's
Generative AI Design Framework
(standards, documentation, guidelines). Advocate for ethical, effective, and human-centered AI design practices. Mentor and guide other UX professionals interested in AI design.
Requirements:
Experience designing Generative AI or conversational AI experiences. Familiarity with prompt engineering and context optimization. Understanding of conversational principles (turn-taking, cognitive load, pragmatics). Strong technical aptitude and comfort learning new tools. Excellent verbal and written communication in business and casual contexts. Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams. Knowledge of user-centered design, Design Thinking, and iterative prototyping.
Ideal Candidate:
5+ years of UX or Product Design experience, with at least some hands-on work in Generative AI. A portfolio showcasing relevant AI projects and a thoughtful design process. Experience working with large language models (LLMs). Strong understanding of cognitive and behavioral science principles. Demonstrated interest in AI ethics and safety. Open-minded, collaborative, adaptable to different teams and projects. Strong communicator and team player. Passionate about revolutionizing human-computer interaction.
