Mechanical Designer – Job Description
Location: Huntsville, AL
Start Date: Right Away
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: $34‑$36 DoE
Job Responsibilities
Creation of assembly and detail drawings
Creation of Bills of Material
Creation of IOM Manuals
Simple layout/design of equipment
Other engineering related activities as needed
Travel (both domestic and international) may be required as needed
Job Qualifications
Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
CAD experience required (AutoCAD Mechanical and Solidworks experience preferred); PC experience required
Wood handling project experience
Moderate knowledge of and the ability to work with basic mathematical concepts of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
Excellent project management and business literacy skills
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to develop strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results
Manage multiple conflicting priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Work in environment with international objectives
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Flexible and available to interact with customers as required
Self‑directed and motivated
Take initiative to identify and anticipate customer needs and make recommendations for implementation
Software/Tools Used
AutoCad & Solidworks
Experience With
Conveyors, debarking drums, mechanical (machining, fabrication, welding, assembly) background
